Tim Baye

Tim is a Professor of Business Development with the UW-Extension. He has developed, taught and managed business education programs serving owners and executives of small-to-medium sized enterprises throughout Wisconsin, and beyond. From 2005 through 2006, Baye served as CEO of Lafayette BioAg, LLC. A technology and project development firm headquartered in Platteville, LBA is the developer of Symbiosys™, an integrated agricultural-energy campus which efficiently combines ethanol, livestock, digesters, electrical, fertilizer, thermal and floriculture production into a near closed-loop system. Tim returned to his position in UW-Extension in January, 2007and is currently contributing to the UW System's efforts to provide a leadership role in the emerging Bio-Economy. |

Dr. William L. Bland

Bill's
more recent research and extension initiatives involve exploring ways to help the broad public and decision-makers better understand agricultural systems.
He led development of a M.S. degree program in Agroecology at UW-Madison that began in 2006.
Also in 2006 he and Dr. Michael Bell presented a speaker series titled, "What would

Andrew Dane

Andrew is involved with a major effort in northwest Wisconsin called "Earth, Wind and Fire: Preparing for Bio-Energy Opportunities in Wisconsin." The objectives of the project are to provide Wisconsin communities with the tools they need to take advantage of bioenergy opportunities in an environmentally sustainable way that maximizes local economic benefits.

Dr. Randall Fortenbery

Randy's research program focuses on agricultural price performance in local and national markets. It looks at impacts of new information on relative prices, as well as overall price levels. He is also engaged in studying the impact of futures price action on the stability of cash prices.
In March 2005 Randy completed "Biodiesel Feasibility Study: An Evaluation of Biodiesel Feasibility in Wisconsin" and he is increasingly tapped to advise on economic and market trends and implications in emerging bio-industries. |

Dr. John Katers

John's areas of research include: Water and wastewater treatment, waste management, recycling, and renewable energy. He spoke at the seminal Bioenergy/Biofuels Gathering of UW System experts (Sept 9, 2007) about his research related to biogas generation from aneorobic digestors. One of his project was titled Biogas Generation from a Wisconsin Dairy Farm Using Anaerobic Catalysis and/or Photocatalysis. It was completed in 2004, funded by Focus on Energy. |

Greg served from 2005-07 as Co-Director of the Agricultural Innovation Center, a joint project of UW Extension and the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade & Consumer Protection. In 2008 he will start a new position in Cooperative Extension but will continue educational programming on entrepreneurship and innovation in Wisconsin agriculture, with a focus on regional food systems and the emerging bio-based economy. He is a member of the planning committee for the Bioenergy & Bioeconomy Team. |

Dr. Sharon Lezberg

Sharon was recently awarded a USDA Sustainable Agriculture Research & Education (SARE) grant to provide professional training materials and in-service trainings to Extension agents, NRCS personnel, and community stakeholders on engaging community process in assess the suitability of proposed biofuels developments. The focus is to encourage a process that promotes community engagement and dialogue in order to avoid conflict within communities, and to safeguard community assets and interests. |

Diane Mayerfeld

Diane is one of two SARE coordinators for Wisconsin. In addition to coordinating sustainable agriculture professional development opportunities, Diane works on sustainable agriculture curriculum development for high school students.
She has worked on sustainable agriculture issues since 1996, first in Iowa and for the last 5 years in Wisconsin. Before that she worked on natural area preservation and groundwater protection policy. She has a master's degree in Forestry.
From January through May 2008, Diane will be working from England, where she will be on partial leave with her family. |

Dr. Douglas Reinemann

Doug has spent much of his career and is internationally known for his work with biomechanics of machine milking, biosensors for milk quality analysis, and other dairy-related engineering, he has also worked intensively in in the areas of renewable energy technology and energy policy.
Doug is Chair of the UW-Madison Energy Analysis and Policy Program. He is also an ex-officio officer and long-time contributor to the Midwest Rural Energy Council. |

Scott Sanford

Scott
works on and manages the Rural Energy Program and provides technical assistance to Wisconsin’s
Focus on Energy program. He has developed audit tools and educational materials for the program and makes presentations on energy conservation. Currently he is working on energy conservation on dairy farms, irrigation system, grain drying, potato storage facilities and greenhouses. Scott also teaches the Agricultural Energy Management course for the Farm and Industry Short course program. Prior to joining the university, Mr. Sanford worked in the dairy equipment business for 17 years holding positions in engineering, marketing and manufacturing. |

Pat's programs have focused on the policy and technical questions involving environmental control and pollution prevention, with an emphasis and waste management.
